Maurice is mainly self-taught, but has 'A' Grade 'O' and 'A' levels in Woodwork. He worked for Blue Circle industries from 1975 - 1984 before becoming self-employed. He works with his brother in the workshop which he built himself.

All timber used is from sustainable sources. We work with solid wood and veneered MDF. We have our own facilities for kiln-drying green timber, though quite a lot of what we use comes from commercial sawmills. The timber needs to be well-seasoned for modern, centrally heated environments.

Everything is made to order; therefore we have a waiting list for work to be done. This can be from two weeks or up to six months depending on how busy we are. We are happy to work in conjunction with architects and interior designers to fulfil a customer's requirements.

We provide a range of surface finishers for our work; typically this will be lacquer, in a matt or satin finish, for a durable, long-lasting finish. For a painted effect we use a tinted lacquer which is sprayed on giving a much superior finish to paint itself.

Most of our work is based on personal recommendation. We strive to provide a first-class professional service. Our workshop is well-equipped with machinery but hand work accounts for a large proportion of the job.
